As you might remember, I rambled on about the Manga exhibition at Manchester’s Urbis a few months ago! Well, Im still raving about it! It finishes on 27th Sept 2008 but until then the Urbis have their own “Manga Cinema” and are showing anime, manga and manga inspired films. I think this idea is just wicked to be honest, so original too! The few that I picked out to let you know about are my personal favourites and the ones I will be attending myself!
12th September – The Animatrix
13th September – The Matrix
18th September – Ghost in the Shell
19th September – Ghost in the Shell 2
20th September – Akira
No booking is required; there are about 100 seats and some large beanbags apparently! I would advise to call 0161 605 8200 just to double check film showing times just in case.
It’s all very exciting!!!
Also at the Urbis, which I again think is pretty cool, they are having a night of creativity on Tuesday 2nd September between 6pm and 8pm which has been call the “lo-fi diy” night! It is basically a great excuse to get together with other people who share a love of creativity and making things! Hot drinks and food are available, as a resources but you are asked to bring along any spare zips, buttons, bits of lace, brooch backs and strong cotton you may have along too. And of course the best thing is that it is free!!
